Grants to further my education and training

I am currently looking at returning to college to do a mechanics course, i am dong this so i can get a change of career and hopefully start making some real money. My wife is also looking at doing a course too in computing and again so she can get a better job. The problem we have got is we both want to do these courses but would leave us without a household income, im sure we could claim some benefits to help but we need something to actually help pay for the courses too. I was actually wondering if there were any grants for married college students perhaps or any sort of grant really would help. Its a pain because if we could do these courses we would be better off financially but its getting the finance do it in the first place. I am not sure how some of these people go off to uni and do college courses while holding done jobs, my boss has said i would need to quit to do this course.
