Having problems with the new pc i am building

I have just bought myself all the bits and pieces i need to build my own pc. Now i have done this before but not for a very long time so all the parts are a bit different to what i am used to. I am doing ok with it but totally stuck now, i am not sure how to connect graphics card to the power supply. The plugs do not seem to match up at all! i am wondering if i need some sort of adapter or something to get it working. I did not receive anything in the box indicating this though. I am hoping that it is all compatible but i can't see me needing a certain type of power supply for this card. The rest of the components work ok and plug in fine so i would assume this would but it just doesn't!. I am reluctant to pay anyone to come out and fix this to be honest because at the end of the day there is no reason it shouldnt work.
