Our children think that they can get things for free. Nothing is free.

The discussion around our Sunday dinner meal was very interesting. Our son in-law is trying to tell us that he is quitting his job so he can stay at home with our grandchild. He says he doesn't want to miss anything. He insisted that he could collect unemployment. My husband and I both know differently. Kids still think we don't know anything. My friend works at the employment office. So I dialed her number and put my son in-law on the phone telling him to ask her. My husband and I both smiled at each other as he asked, "can i quit and collect unemployment to stay home with my child?" His face grew bleaker and bleaker as he listened to the rules of unemployment. You can take leave from your job for six weeks but you do not get paid for it. Well, we were right of course. My mouth dropped when he told me then he would make his boss fire him. I handed the phone back to him and hit redial. Once again his face went bleak. No he couldn't collect by quitting or being fired. The only way you can collect unemployment is through a lay off or having to move out of state due to a change of job for your spouse.
