Why would you connect mic to ipod touch

I bought my ipod touch for personal gains. But this does not mean that I am selfish, rather, it means that I did not want to bother anybody with the music that I enjoyed therein. Music produces sound and can be very destructive, especially to anyone who is not interested in the music that you listen to. This is therefore what I put into consideration and ensured that I always had my earphones on to keep the music for myself. Having the notion that ipods are supposed to be made personal, I do not see the reason why I should know how to connect mic to ipod touch because I do not think I will need it outside a personal level. After all, I have a big radio that would serve me well while at home rather than do a connection of my ipod touch to a mic. All I can do though is to learn the concept because I can never tell if I would need it in future. This is the only reason why I will be on point with such need in future.
